Betting tips for Germany vs England: Nations League preview, odds and free bet – The Telegraph

Find out why our expert backs a goalless first half among his betting tips for the Nations League tie between Germany and England in Munich
The Uefa Nations League continues on Tuesday evening, with Germany vs England the pick of the fixtures. Both teams are targeting a first win in the competition after the hosts drew with Italy and England fell to a shock 1-0 defeat against Hungary on Saturday.
The intense rivalry between the nations ensures there is always plenty at stake when the countries play each other, as they do at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Tuesday.
After England’s defeat in their opening Nations League match, manager Gareth Southgate will expect a response from his players and is likely to field a stronger side.

England were below par in losing their opening Nations League Group C match 1-0 to Hungary on Saturday, although they were not helped by fielding an inexperienced and much-changed team.
Gareth Southgate will demand a better performance against Hansi Flick’s side and England are expected to raise their game against their great rivals, who drew 1-1 with Italy in their first match.
The countries have met 11 times this century and the overall score in that period is level at five wins apiece with one draw, although England have won two and drawn one of the past four encounters.
The most recent meeting, at last summer’s Euro 2020 finals, is the only time in the past five meetings that there has been more than one goal separating the sides and this could be equally tight.
Germany have drawn their previous two games, against Italy and the Netherlands, and with England desperate to get their first point on the board, a draw looks like a good price.
Tip: Draw @ 23/10 with BetVictor
The service to Harry Kane was almost non-existent in Budapest, where England managed just four shots on target during the 90 minutes.
The captain is still the man for the big occasion and will head to Munich looking to keep up a good run against Germany in recent times.
Kane, who scored 12 goals in eight appearances during World Cup qualifying, has scored twice in the previous four meetings including the decisive second goal at Wembley last June.
Germany in contrast, have failed to score in their previous two games against England, but they go into this match having won four in a row on home soil.
Tip: Harry Kane to score at any time @ 15/8 with BetVictor
There have been eight goals scored in total in the previous four meetings between the sides, with seven of them coming in the second half. In fact, both of England’s goals in their win at the Euros last summer were scored in the final 15 minutes.
Three of the four goals scored in Germany’s previous two matches have also come after the break, with the other bagged just before half-time.
Meanwhile, all of England’s previous five goals have been scored after the half-hour mark – so it may be that we reach the interval on Tuesday with the match still goalless.
Tip: First-half goals – no goals @ 17/10 with BetVictor
Germany are 23/20 to win on Tuesday, with England at 12/5 and the draw priced at 23/10.
Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.
Flick has almost a full squad to choose from, with Marco Reus the only potential absentee. He sat out the 1-1 draw with Italy on Saturday and may remain sidelined for this clash. Ilkay Gundogan, Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala are all set to start.
Germany predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Kehrer, Sule, Rüdiger, Raum; Kimmich, Gundogan; Gnabry, Muller, Musiala; Havertz.
Phil Foden remains out after testing positive for Covid-19, while James Justin was substituted at half-time against Hungary after picking up a knock and is likely to miss this game. Kieran Trippier may come in at left wing-back. Raheem Sterling should start, along with Kalvin Phillips and Jack Grealish – neither of whom made the XI against Hungary.
England predicted line-up (3-5-2): Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire; James, Rice, Phillips, Trippier; Sterling, Kane, Grealish.
