Thursday night’s conditions will be miserable as temperatures will reside in the mid 20s with humidity. Don’t underestimate the extra bite a “wet” cold provides.
Cold weather alone isn’t something that typically precludes the Packers from letting Rodgers sling it. But coming off a win in which he only threw it 20 times, it’s not crazy to expect Matt LaFleur and Co. to deploy another balanced offensive approach.
NFL Playoff odds: Where do Packers, Titans stand?
If you like the Under on pass attempts, it’s logical to lean toward the Under in passing yards as well. Rodgers eclipsed the 244-yard plateau a modest four times this season, so big passing totals aren’t a given as they once were. Factor in the weather plus a receiving corps that still has room to grow, and it’s easy to envision a scenario in which Rodgers both attempts fewer than 34 passes and stays Under 244 passing yards.
Henry accounts for 54.8% of the Titans’ touches, so there’s no secret about how they will deploy their offense. He’s also scored in six of nine games, so he’s the primary option when it’s time to play in the paint. For strict and hyper-disciplined bettors, -150 odds might be a tad shorter than what they’d like to pay. In those cases, it’s not a bad idea to consider DraftKings’ plus-money odds on Henry being the first touchdown scorer on Thursday night.
Jones can deliver a quality game without dominating on the ground. The Titans feature one of the top rushing defenses in the league, so running lanes won’t be easy to come by. That’s not necessarily a big problem for Jones, who enjoys success in the passing game (42 targets, 34 receptions). Additionally, the Packers have demonstrated they won’t simply force Jones as a runner. He has four contests in which he carried the ball fewer than 10 times.
What’s Ahead: NFL Week 12 look-ahead lines
The Packers will have their work cut out for them against a stout Titans run defense. It might be the lesser of two evils on Thursday night though with painfully cold temperatures in the forecast. Oddsmakers list the total for this game in the low 40s, so it’s fair to project a conservative “ground & pound” approach for both teams. Dillon is second on the Packers in touches and is active enough in the passing game (two games with six targets) to anticipate enough volume to reach the Over in this spot.
